Professional Experience

Alex has over twenty years’ experience in investment managing hospitality and mixed use assets through all stages of the investment cycle – concept, feasibility, design, pre-opening, operating, asset management, pre-sale and disposal.  Over this time he has worked in five continents and been responsible for over $7 billion of global hospitality assets.

He has experience working with global brands such as Hyatt, Mandarin Oriental, MGM, W, Kempinski, Fontainebleau, One&Only, Intercontinental, Guoman, Steigenberger, Holiday Inn and EasyHotels as well as numerous other regional and local brands.

With core expertise in investment management he is experienced in all facets of the real estate and hospitality investment cycle for both portfolio and single asset transactions and has regularly undertaken due diligence for acquisitions & disposals, debt & equity funding negotiations as well as operator search and contract negotiations including franchise and management agreements, insurance claims and litigation support.

From an operational perspective he has conducted numerous business reviews identifying areas for business repositioning, revenue enhancement and cost control as well as conducting ongoing reviews, regular reporting on business operations and stakeholder management.

His work has also included responsibility for real estate development including global hotel construction and renovation projects, branded residences and hotel rebranding.

Previously Alex held various senior Finance and Asset Management roles in the Grand Hotel Group- the first listed hotel property trust in Australia, Istithmar Hotelsthe Government of Dubai’s international hospitality investment arm, Deloitte UK and Al Dau Development -a major high net worth family group in Egypt.

Alex has a Bachelor of Business from Swinburne Institute of Technology, a Diploma in Applied Finance Investment from the Security Institute of Australia and a post-graduate certificate in Real Estate from Cornell University.  He is certified from the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia and New Zealand and a Senior Associate of FINSIA, the professional body for the financial services industry in Australia and New Zealand.
